Unintentionally hilarious PolitiFact: "(Talarico) did not say he was a vegan"

At times one can only shake one's head at PolitiFact's liberal/progressive antics.

In a fact check of Republican Ken Paxton's claim that Democratic opponent James Talarico is a vegan, PolitiFact admitted Talarico announced a 2022 campaign would be vegan:

"I am proud to say that our campaign has officially become a non-meat campaign, so we are only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses," he said, adding, "Everyone has to take personal responsibility in this effort."

PolitiFact emphasized, however, that Talarico stopped short of saying he was vegan. PolitiFact also, without questioning, quoted a Talarico spokesperson saying Talarico has never been a vegan:

"James is not and never has been a vegan or vegetarian," campaign spokesperson JT Ennis said in an email to PolitiFact.

We think we should not have to point out to PolitiFact that it makes little sense for a non-vegan to commit his campaign to buying and using vegan products. Was Talarico eating bacon & eggs for breakfast during that 2022 campaign after committing the campaign to veganism? If he paid for the pork out of his own pocket, does that diminish the incredible hypocrisy? Were other members of the campaign likewise free to indulge carnivorous urges if they used their own money for the purchases?

If that's the case, it's wild. It's the paragon of empty performative virtue signaling.

Keeping to the theme of shameful journalism, PolitiFact downplayed Talarico's phony posturing by saying he "advocated for reduced meat consumption." So, like, he wanted the McDonald's Quarter Pounder to drop to 2.5 ounces? Limit one per customer?

No, come on, PolitiFact. The supposed non-vegan publicly committed his 2022 campaign to veganism.

Which makes him more definitely a weirdo if he wasn't really vegan.
